A man was running across the highway when he was struck by a Hyundai Ionic traveling northbound.

San Francisco, CA.- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in San Francisco early Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident took place on Highway 101 near South Airport Boulevard at around 3 a.m.
A man was running across the highway when he was struck by a Hyundai Ionic traveling northbound.
Shortly after, the Ionic was struck by a red Kia Soul and the impact caused the Kia to roll over.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene despite life-saving efforts performed on him.
The driver of the Kia was suspected to have been impaired and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Several lanes of Highway 101 were shut down for hours following the accident.
The CHP is investigating the incident.
