San Mateo, CA – Major injuries were reported in a multi-vehicle collision that happened early Sunday morning in San Mateo.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the pileup was reported around 1:52 a.m., January 18, on northbound Highway 101 just south of the Peninsula Avenue off-ramp.

Four vehicles, including a blue Toyota, a gray Kia SUV, and a black Honda pickup truck, were involved in the collision.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and helped at least one person who suffered major injuries. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.

Multiple traffic lanes were closed following the crash. All lanes were reopened around 3:06 a.m.

CHP officers are investigating the collision.
