Santa Clara, California (August 8, 2023) – A pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle in Santa Clara early Sunday morning, according to the police.

The crash took place in the area of Lawrence Expressway and Monroe Street at around 1:27 a.m.

Police said a woman was walking westbound on Monroe in the crosswalk when she was hit by a Honda SUV that was traveling north on Lawrence.

The pedestrian we pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver, a 49-year-old Campbell man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The crash is under investigation.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
