The Cuyama man and three other passengers in the Civic were injured in the crash

Bakersfield, CA – Authorities have identified two people who died in a collision in Bakersfield on Friday afternoon, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened on Highway 33 at Elkhorn Grade Road at around 4 p.m., July 24, according to the CHP.
23-year-old Osvaldo Ramon Ortega Jaimes Jr. was driving a 2005 Honda Civic northbound on Highway 33 when he drifted into the southbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming 2022 Honda Accord driven by a 21-year-old Cuyama man.
Jaimes Jr. and his passenger, 55-year-old Janneth Guerrero, were both killed in the accident.
The Cuyama man and three other passengers in the Civic were injured. Two air ambulances and ground ambulances responded to the scene to transport the injured to Bakersfield Hospitals.
Investigators reported that impairment was not suspected to have been a factor in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
