Orondo, WA – The identities of the five people who died in a head-on collision on Sunday night near Orondo in Douglas County have been identified.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the deadly crash took place on U.S. Highway 2 at around 9:39 p.m. near milepost 137.
The WSP report indicates that Humberto Lillo Jimenez, 48, of Pasco, was driving a 2014 Nissan Maxima westbound on the highway when he drifted across the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound 2015 Chevrolet Sonic driven by A. L. Garcia, 77, of Omak.
Lillo Jimenez and his passengers, identified as Samuel Dominguez Nieto, Martin Hilario Santiago, 35, and Crecencio Basilio Perez, were all pronounced deceased at the scene. Garcia was also pronouced deceased at the scene.
According to the WSP, Jimenez, Nieto, and Garcia, were wearing their seatbelts but Perez and Santiago were not.
Alcohol and/or drugs were suspected to have played a role in the incident .
The two vehicles sustaned total damage in the crash and were towed from the scene. The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
