Irvine, CA – One person was killed and two others were injured after an Irvine 3-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 5 on Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash happened around 8:26 a.m. on October 27, along I-5 North just south of Jeffrey Road, causing significant delays and temporary lane closures as emergency crews responded to the scene.
CHP reports indicate that a gray Infiniti, a black Mazda, and a gray Jeep were involved in the collision, which blocked multiple lanes and left debris scattered across the roadway.
One driver was found unresponsive and pinned inside their vehicle, prompting firefighters to remove the driver's side door to reach the victim.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the gray Infiniti died at the scene, while two other individuals were injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
No arrests have been made, and there were no immediate indications of impairment.
Traffic on northbound I-5 was heavily impacted for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and reopen the lanes. The Orange County Coroner's Office responded to the scene, and all lanes were reopened later in the morning.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the Santa Ana 3-vehicle crash.
