San Leandro, CA. – One person was hurt in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Sunday afternoon in San Leandro, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident took place around 5 p.m. on northbound Interstate 880 near Marina Boulevard.
According to CHP, the accident involved three vehicles, including one that had initially been involved in a police pursuit.
The San Leandro Police Department initially started to chase a vehicle but called off the chase after the driver drove the wrong way.
The suspect driver then collided with two other cars.
The at-fault vehicle and the second car had two occupants each at the time of the accident but none was injured.
The third car had five occupants. One of them was hospitalized with the complaint of pain to the neck, head, and ankle.
The wrong-way driver was arrested by SLPD officers.
Investigators temporarily closed the northbound lanes as they worked the scene.
