Bakersfield, CA – At least one person is dead and another injured after a two-vehicle crash on State Route 58 in Bakersfield early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision happened on SR-58 at Plumwood Street at approximately 5:41 a.m. on October 28.
The CHP said a silver Chrysler 300 and a black sedan were involved in a head-on collision. Both vehicles were traveling on SR-58 when the impact occurred.
The CHP confirmed that at least one person suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. One other person sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Emergency responders, including local tow services and the coroner, were dispatched to the scene to assist with vehicle removal and investigate the fatality.
Westbound traffic was temporarily blocked at the intersection while crews worked to clear the roadway.
The incident remains under investigation as CHP continues to determine the exact cause of the crash.
