Oceanside, CA – A male skateboarder was killed after he was struck by a pickup truck while crossing State Route 78 in Oceanside Saturday afternoon, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The victim was identified as 34-year-old Nicholas Paul Wadsworth.
The fatal collision occurred on September 12, 2026, on westbound SR 78 west of College Boulevard.
Emergency personnel responded at about 1:19 p.m. to a report of a skateboarder crossing the highway when he was hit by a pickup truck. Responding personnel located Wadsworth at the scene and pronounced him dead.
The Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Wadsworth died from multiple blunt force injuries to the head, trunk, and extremities. His death was ruled accidental.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities did not release additional information about the pickup truck driver or the events that led to the collision.
The investigation remains ongoing.
