Responding Riverside County firefighters found several victims lying in the roadway, while others were standing.
Nuevo, CA – Six people were injured Thursday afternoon in a head-on collision involving a pickup truck and a Kia Optima on the Ramona Expressway, authorities reported.
The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. just west of Lakeview Avenue, leaving both vehicles badly damaged and blocking the eastbound lanes of the major corridor.

A total of six patients were evaluated at the scene. Four were taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley with moderate to major injuries, while the remaining individuals declined further medical attention.
The eastbound lanes of Ramona Expressway were fully shut down following the crash, and a SigAlert was issued at 2:14 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
