Initial reports indicate that a motorist was changing a tire on the shoulder of westbound I-84 when a semi-truck crashed into them.

Multnomah County, OR – One person was severely injured in a crash involving a big rig on Interstate 84 in Multnomah County on Saturday morning.
According to the Oregon State Police, the incident took place just before 8:15 a.m. June 20, near Rooster Rock State Park.
Initial reports indicate that a motorist was changing a tire on the shoulder of westbound I-84 when a semi-truck crashed into them.
The motorist was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
As authorities investigated the incident, another westbound motorist in a Kia sedan crashed into two Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office SUVs that were blocking the scene.
The motorist involved in the second collision was unconscious as he was pulled out of his vehicle. Medics transported him to a hospital with minor injuries. No deputies were injured in the secondary crash.
At about 10:15 a.m., the Oregon Department of Transportation reported a shut down of the westbound lanes of I-84 as authorities worked to clear the scene. All lanes were reopened an hour later.
The Oregon State Police is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
