, CA – A motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday morning following a collision involving an SUV on U.S. Highway 101 in Central Los Angeles, the California Highway Patrol said in a report.

The deadly crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. when a white Honda Pilot collided with a motorcycle on the southbound 101 near the Normandie overpass.

The impact caused the motorcycle to become trapped beneath a vehicle, blocking multiple lanes of traffic.

Emergency crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed the motorcyclist had died at the scene. The name of the deceased rider was not immediately provided pending family notification

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Additional vehicles may have been involved, as officers noted debris and lane blockages from multiple directions.

A SigAlert was issued for lanes two through four, which remained closed for several hours as authorities conducted an on-scene investigation.

Tow services were requested to remove the damaged motorcycle and vehicles.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
