Big Bear Lake, CA. – A motorcyclist was hospitalized after a traffic collision that happened Thursday afternoon in Big Bear Lake, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The incident occurred around 1:48 p.m. on Highway 18 near Glory Ridge Road.

A black Civic motorcycle and a white Volkswagen Passat were involved in a head-on collision.

The rider went down in traffic lanes, sustaining major injuries. The patient was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities did not immediately determine the cause of the accident, but an investigation is ongoing.
