Modesto, CA – Three students and an adult were hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle near an elementary school in Modesto on Thursday morning, according to the Modesto Police Department.

The accident took place at around 7:45 a.m. September 17, on Shelden Drive and Janet Court near Eisenhut Elementary School.

According to the authorities, an adult woman and the three students were in the crosswalk walking towards the school when a passing vehicle struck them.

The woman was trapped under the vehicle and was freed by a person living nearby.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene shortly after and attended to the parties involved in the collision.

Two students were flown to a hospital while the third student and the adult woman were transported by ambulance. Police reported that the patients were in stable condition.

The male driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative with law enforcement.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Modesto Police Department.
