Modesto, CA – Two people inside a home were killed when a suspect being pursued by California Highway Patrol officers crashed into the structure early Tuesday morning in Modesto.

According to CHP, around 1:20 a.m. on June 9, 2026, two officers spotted a car that was driving at a high rate of speed in the area and started a pursuit.
The driver ran a red light and crashed into a home on Tuxford Lane near Robin Hood Drive.
Two people were inside the home at the time of the collision. They both died in the accident. The victims were not the homeowners. Authorities said the homeowners were out of state at the time.
Knobel and his passenger were not seriously injured.
Officers arrested the driver and booked him into the Stanislaus County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of vehicular manslaughter, two counts of felony DUI, and driving on a suspended license.
The intersection of Robin Hood Drive and Tuxford Lane was closed for several hours during the investigation.
