Mario Argil Injured in Fatal Bakersfield Accident on Highway 119
Bakersfield, California (June 1, 2023) – Mario Bernardino Argil, 46, was hurt in a fatal collision Wednesday morning in Bakersfield, according to the CHP.
The wreck occurred at around 5:25 a.m. May 31, on Highway 119, east of Coles Levee.
Authorities said Joel Frakes, 45, was driving east on Highway 119 when he swerved into the westbound lanes and collided with a westbound Ford F 250 and a westbound GMC 1500.
The operator of the GMC, identified as a 56-year-old Bakersfield man, died at the scene.
Frakes and Argil, who was driving the Ford, were hospitalized with major injuries.
CHP said drugs and alcohol were not believed to have played a role in the incident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
