Carlsbad, CA –The pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle at an intersection in Carlsbad has been identified.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified the pedestrian as Marilyn Jean Myers, 78, of Carlsbad.

Authorities said Myers was walking along the road when she was struck by a vehicle under unclear circumstances.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

No additional information was provided.

The crash is under investigation.

According to the Carlsbad Police Department, the accident happened around 11:30 a.m. at Tamarack Avenue and Skyline Road.

The driver, 57-year-old Paul Hiniker, of Carlsbad, was arrested for leaving the scene of a collision resulting in death and vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
