Long Beach, CA. – A man was struck and killed by a car Wednesday evening while he was walking his bike across a street in Long Beach, authorities reported.
The accident occurred around 6:05 p.m. on Pacific Place near Wardlow Road, just south of the 405 Freeway.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the pedestrian was walking his bicycle eastbound across Pacific Place, outside a crosswalk, when a 2012 Toyota Corolla traveling northbound on Pacific Place hit him.
Emergency personnel transported the victim to a hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the car stopped and remained at the scene.
Police said speed, intoxication, and distracted driving do not appear to be contributing factors.
An investigation is ongoing.
