Buttonwillow, CA – A man was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision near Buttonwillow, according to the CHP.

The fatal collision happened around 12:02 p.m. on September 15 on northbound Interstate 5 north of Rowlee Road.

CHP said a 24-year-old North Hollywood man was driving a 2025 Ram 1500 pickup northbound on the interstate while a 45-year-old La Puente man was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla southbound.

For unknown reasons, the Toyota driver veered to the left into the dirt center median and into the northbound lane, and directly into the path of the Ram pickup, resulting in a collision.

The Toyota continued in a southeasterly direction, and came to a rest on the eastbound dirt shoulder.

The Ram driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The Toyota driver was taken to Kern Medical with moderate injuries.

Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the collision.

The CHP is investigating the accident.
