Man on Electric Scooter Killed in Accident at Sierra Avenue and Spaulding Drive in Riverside
Riverside, CA. – A male scooter rider was killed in a crash at an intersection in Riverside County Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the crash happened at around 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of Sierra Avenue and Spaulding Drive.
A preliminary investigation revealed a man riding an electric scooter southbound on La Sierra Avenue in the northbound lanes was struck head-on by a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old woman who turned northbound onto La Sierra Avenue from La Sierra High School.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
The car driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the officers.
It was unclear whether drugs and alcohol played a role in the collision.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.
An investigation is ongoing.
