Long Beach, CA – A man was killed days later after a traffic collision on Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach last month.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident was reported at around 9:40 a.m. on April 29 in the 6500 block of Atlantic Avenue near Artesia Boulevard.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a northbound 2019 Honda Accord on Atlantic Avenue driven by a 19-year-old Long Beach resident failed to stop for a red sign and hit the man riding an electric scooter in a marked crosswalk.

The male rider was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and died five days later.

The police said speed was a factor in the wreck.

The driver involved stayed at the scene and it was not clear whether he was arrested.

The incident remains under investigation.
