San Jose, CA. – A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a traffic collision that happened late Thursday afternoon in San Jose.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 5:24 p.m. on southbound Interstate 280, just north of the 7th Street on-ramp.

A black Kawasaki motorcycle and a white Lexus RS350 were involved in the crash.

The female rider was lying down on the roadway after the crash. A party in a black pickup truck was blocking the victim from being hit by passing vehicles.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and transported the motorcyclist to the hospital with major injuries.

Authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
