Los Angeles, CA – Authorities responded to an accident in which a pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in the Glassell Park neighborhood of Los Angeles on Wednesday morning.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident was reported at around 11:30 a.m. March 11, in the area of 2705 Media Center Drive west of San Fernando Road.
Initial reports indicate that an Amtrak train hit a person on the tracks. It’s unclear why the victim was on the tracks when they were hit.
The Los Angeles Fire Department crews and Los Angeles Police Department officers arrived at the scene shortly after.
The medics confirmed the pedestrian’s death at the site of the collision. The victim’s name, age, and gender were not immediately released.
No one on the train reported any injuries as a result of the collision.
At this time, no additional details on the incident have been released. Investigations are ongoing to establish how and why the accident occurred.
