Long Beach, CA — A bicyclist who was killed last week in a Long Beach bicycle accident has been identified by county authorities.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office identified the deceased as Robert Neal.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were called to the scene at approximately 9:40 p.m. on January 16 after reports of an unresponsive person in the center median near Artesia Boulevard and Indiana Avenue.
Firefighters also responded and attempted life-saving measures before Neal was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.
Investigators said Neal was riding an electric bicycle eastbound in the far-left lane of Artesia Boulevard when he may have lost control and struck the curb of the center median. Authorities indicated that no other vehicles were believed to be involved in the collision.
The incident remains under investigation.
