Long Beach, CA — A man riding an electric bicycle was killed Friday night in an accident that happened in north Long Beach, according to police.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m., January 16, on Artesia Boulevard near Indiana Avenue.
Long Beach police said the bicyclist was traveling eastbound in the far left lane of Artesia Boulevard when he possibly lost control of the e-bike and struck the center median curb.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and provided medical aid before transporting the man to a local hospital. Authorities said he later died from his injuries.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office is working to identify the bicyclist.
Investigators with the LBPD's Collision Investigation Detail are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash. At this time, no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.
