Santa Ana, CA. – 32-year-old Leticia Placentia Alvarado and 29-year-old Jorge Andres Delgado died in a wrong-way collision that happened Monday evening in Santa Ana, authorities reported.
The wrong-way crash involved several cars and happened around 6:30 p.m. on Main Street near Warner Avenue.
According to Santa Ana police, Delgado was driving his car the wrong way, going northbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed, when he collided with three southbound cars, including one driven by Alvarado.
Alvarado and Delgado, both Santa Ana residents, were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Alvarado's family, the deceased was about five minutes away from home after leaving work when she was involved in the crash.
Five passengers in a third car – ages 39, 19, 18, 11, and 1 – were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The occupants of the fourth vehicle were not injured.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
