Hesperia, CA. — Authorities have identified 43-year-old Leandro Aguirre as the man killed in a two-vehicle crash earlier this week on Summit Valley Road, just north of Highway 138, according to the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Coroner's Office.
The collision occurred around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, in an unincorporated county area near Hesperia.
Aguirre was driving a 2005 Honda northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle veered into oncoming traffic.
The Honda collided head-on with a southbound 2007 Nissan SUV.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced Aguirre dead at the scene.
The Nissan driver, described as an Apple Valley woman, was transported to a hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Her condition was not mentioned.
CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.

Hesperia, CA. — At least one person was killed Tuesday afternoon in a violent head-on collision on Summit Valley Road after an unknown white SUV reportedly caused another driver to swerve into oncoming traffic, authorities said.
The crash was reported just after 4:30 p.m. on Summit Valley Road near Cataba Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers and San Bernardino County Fire crews arrived to find two heavily damaged vehicles involved in the collision.
A preliminary investigation revealed that an older white SUV traveling on Summit Valley Road swerved into the path of a black SUV, forcing that driver to lose control.
The vehicle crossed into opposing lanes and struck a dark gray sedan head-on, causing major front-end damage.
The San Bernardino County Coroner's Office responded to the scene shortly before 5 p.m., confirming at least one fatality.
The white SUV did not stop after the incident and was last seen traveling westbound on Highway 138 from Summit Valley Road.
Additional details, including the identity of the victim, have not yet been released.
CHP Victorville Office is investigating the crash.
