Lake County, OR – One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 140 in Lake County early Monday morning, according to Oregon State Police.

The collision occurred on Highway 140 near milepost 88 at approximately 4:17 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a westbound Ford F-250 lost control after passing another vehicle and rolled multiple times into a ditch.

The driver, identified as Destiny Elizabeth Canaday, a 30-year-old woman from Bly, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported, and no arrests were made.

Oregon State Police determined that speed and roadway conditions were the primary contributing factors in the crash.

OSP troopers responded to the scene and were assisted by Thomas Creek Fire, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Authorities reported that Highway 140 was not impacted during the on-scene investigation, and traffic continued to flow normally.

The fatal Lake County crash remains under investigation by the Oregon State Police.
