Lake County, CA – One person was hospitalized after a solo vehicle accident that took place in Lake County on Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on Highway 175 near the Lake County line at around 7:30 p.m. January 10.
According to the authorities, a vehicle traveling westbound on the highway crashed off the side of the roadway and landed nearly 200 feet down the embankment. It's unclear what caused the driver to drift off the roadway.
The Lakeport Fire Department crews and CHP arrived at the scene shortly after and found the driver along the roadway.
The medics transported the driver to Sutter Lakeside Hospital, then the patient was airlifted by REACH to a trauma center.
According to the CHP, the patient was hospitalized with major injuries. The identity of the hospitalized party was not immediately disclosed.
No additional details about the accident were provided. The CHP is working to determine the cause of the accident.
