Klickitat County, WA- Tanner Weisz Killed in Big Rig Accident on State Route 97 near Goldendale

Preliminary reports indicate that Tanner Weisz, 19, of Sandy, was driving a 2003 Ford F-350 northbound on SR 97 when he swerved onto the side of the roadway. He then overcorrected and drifted into the southbound side, where he crashed into the cab of a semi-truck with trailer.

Klickitat County, WA – A man from Sandy was killed in a collision involving a big rig north of Goldendale in Klickitat County on Wednesday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident was reported just before 8 a.m. June 24, on State Route 97 near milepost 28.

Preliminary reports indicate that Tanner Weisz, 19, of Sandy, was driving a 2003 Ford F-350 northbound on SR 97 when he swerved onto the side of the roadway. He then overcorrected and drifted into the southbound side, where he crashed into the cab of a semi-truck with trailer.

The impact of the collision caused the Ford to flip and it came to a rest next to the guardrail.

Weisz was transported to a hospital, where he was declared deceased. Authorities reported that Weisz was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The driver of the big rig, a 64-year-old Stayton man, was wearing a seatbelt and was also hurt. There was no update on the condition of the injured driver.

Both vehicles sustained major damage in the collision.

The Washington State Patrol is yet to release additional details on the accident. The investigation is still ongoing.
