Nichols was found lying face down on the street and was pronounced dead at the accident scene

Lake Elsinore, CA. – Josh Nichols, 44, has been identified as the pedestrian who died after being struck by a car early Tuesday morning.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened around 1 a.m. on Riverside Drive, just west of Baker Street.
Nichols was walking home with his dog after a night out when he was struck by a vehicle.
Nichols, a resident of Lake Elsinore, was found lying face down on the street and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
Brody Aaron Bird, 20, and Amber Lauren Lievanos, 20, both Lake Elsinore residents, fled the scene but were later located and arrested.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
