Joseph Pina Jr Injured in Napa Collision on Highway 121

Napa, California (March 27, 2023) – Joseph Pina Jr, 68, of Santa Rosa, was injured in a collision on Highway 121 in Napa early Friday morning, according to California Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened south of Stanley Lane at about 6:20 a.m. March 24.

CHP said Pina Jr. was driving a Pontiac northbound on the highway when he rear-ended Brauilio Rojas, 33, of Napa, who was driving a GMC Yukon. 

The two vehicles came to a rest blocking traffic lanes and several bystanders stopped to help.

Two of the bystanders, along with Pina Jr, were inside the Pontiac van and four additional bystanders were standing on the passenger side of the van when minutes later, a 2017 Colorado Chevy pickup truck crashed into the van.

The crash pushed the Pontiac into the pedestrians standing outside.

Three people were taken to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

Pina was among the injured parties and was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Other parties involved in the crash had complaints of pain.

The CHP is handling  the investigation.
