Tehama County Fire Department responded to the area and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene
Red Bluff, CA. – A pedestrian died after being struck by a car early Saturday morning in Red Bluff.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 5:44 a.m. on SR-99E at Marek Road.
The pedestrian was walking in the area and was struck by a 2020 Toyota Corolla and was driven by Jose Luis Vargas Moran, 42, of Anderson.
Tehama County Fire Department responded to the area and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Moran remained on the scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
Authorities closed the southbound lanes of the highway for an investigation.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
