Tucson, AZ. – John McLean, 68, a Democratic candidate for the Arizona state Senate was killed in a Friday morning accident on Broadway in Tucson.
According to the Tucson Police Department, the mishap happened at around 6 a.m. November 15 on Broadway near North Houghton Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, 27-year-old Michael Martin Creel was driving a Ford Explorer traveling at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck McLean's vehicle.
McLean was pronounced dead at the scene.
Creel was not seriously injured, was arrested, and booked into Pima County Jail on suspicion of manslaughter and aggravated driving under the influence.
No additional details regarding the mishap were provided.
The wreck remains under investigation.
