Jason McCullough, 47, Killed in Hoopa Pedestrian Crash on Highway 96 near Hostler Field Road

Hoopa, CA.- A 47-year-old man was hit and killed by a vehicle while walking on a highway in Hoopa on Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident took place on Highway 96 east of Hostler Field Road just after 1 a.m. on October 31.

The CHP said Jason McCullough, 47, of Arcata, was walking on westbound Highway 96 when he was hit by a 2009 Volkswagen GLI traveling west.

McCullough was killed in the accident.

The driver, Cory Tracy, 44, of Hoopa, stayed at the scene after the accident.

It’s unclear why the pedestrian was walking in the roadway.

The CHP is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
