According to the 2023 California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) collision rankings, Ione recorded zero total fatal or injury collisions and zero victims killed or injured in crashes, placing it toward the lower end of statewide rankings in most categories, such as alcohol-involved, speed-related, nighttime, and pedestrian and bicyclist incidents. Ione's rankings ranged from about 28th to 71st out of 74 similar cities, indicating relatively few serious crashes in that year. However, there were 15 DUI arrests documented, suggesting ongoing enforcement activity. Comparing with prior years, 2022 also showed zero reported fatal and injury collisions, while in 2021 six victims were reported as killed or injured, and one bicyclist casualty. These annual OTS collision rankings help gauge traffic safety performance relative to other small California cities, though they reflect only fatal and injury crashes, not all collisions.
