Indio, CA – One person was killed when a driver hit a pedestrian and fled the scene on Van Buren Street in Indio Wednesday night.

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the area for reasons still under investigation. When Indio Police responded to the scene, the involved motorist had driven away.
Officers and paramedics found a seriously injured victim in the location and performed life-saving measures on him. However, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
There were no identification details provided on the deceased pedestrian.
Police located a vehicle believed to have been involved in the crash at an apartment complex in the 47000 block of Van Buren Street. The suspect driver is still at large.
The Indio Police Department’s Traffic Division is conducting an investigation into the hit-and-run.
