Imperial County, CA – A motorcyclist died in a collision involving multiple vehicles on Monday night in Imperial County, according to the authorities.

Shortly after 9:35 p.m. on March 30, authorities responded to reports of a crash on State Route 98 west of Interstate 8.

Preliminary investigations reveal that a Toyota Highlander was heading west on SR 98 when it moved into the eastbound side and crashed with an oncoming BMW K1200 motorcycle.

The rider of the eastbound motorcycle was ejected by the impact of the crash and was subsequently hit by a westbound Acura RSX.

The motorcyclist was killed in the accident and the Imperial County Coroner’s Office is expected to release their identity once the next-of-kin has been notified.

The other two motorists were treated for minor injuries. Their identities were also not immediately released.

Investigators reported that the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and the other drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

The authorities have not confirmed whether impairment or speed factored in the accident. An investigation by the California Highway Patrol is ongoing and additional details are expected to be released.
