Hesperia, CA: 2 Airlifted after 2 Semis Collide on 15 Freeway

Hesperia, California (March 26, 2022) – Two people were airlifted to hospitals after a big rig rear-ended another big rig early Saturday morning in Hesperia, as per a local news source.

The wreck occurred at about 1:46 a.m. on southbound 15 Freeway, near the Main Street overpass.

As per the article, a big rig was traveling at an unknown speed when it collided into the rear of another big rig.

Two people were trapped inside the first tractor-trailer.

California Highway Patrol officers, San Bernardino County firefighters and paramedics, as well as Caltrans officials, responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the accident.

The firefighters extricated the two persons and determined they were in critical condition. Two helicopters were requested to take the patients to the hospital. Mercy 66 and Mercy 22 landed at Bishop Avenue and Poplar Street, east of US Highway 395. One of the patients was airlifted by Mercy 66 to Loma Linda University Medical Center, and the other was transported by Mercy 22 to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

The report said the driver of the second big rig was not injured.

Caltrans cleaned about 30 gallons of diesel and oil that spilled in the roadway.

Officers are investigating to determine the cause of the collision.
