Hanford, CA – Woman Identified in Deadly Car Accident on Highway 43 near Idaho Avenue

Alma Ortega-Alanis, 48, of Hanford, according to the California Highway Patrol, was killed in the incident that occurred on Highway 43 near Idaho Avenue at about 5:35 a.m. August 4.

Hanford, CA – Authorities have released the identity of a woman who died after a collision between two vehicles in Hanford on Tuesday morning.

Alma Ortega-Alanis, 48, of Hanford, according to the California Highway Patrol, was killed in the incident that occurred on Highway 43 near Idaho Avenue at about 5:35 a.m. August 4.

Initial reports indicate that Ortega-Alanis, who was driving a 2023 GMC Sierra pickup truck, crossed into the northbound side of Highway 43.

The pickup truck was struck on its right rear by a 2019 Ford Fusion and the impact pushed both vehicles onto the east shoulder of the highway.

An off-duty nurse passing by performed CPR on Ortega-Alanis until medics arrived and continued with the life-saving efforts.

Despite attempts by the medics to resuscitate her, Ortega-Alanis succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Ford was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Hanford for treatment of their injuries.

Investigators reported that alcohol or drugs were not suspected to have factored in the collision. An investigation by the California Highway Patrol is ongoing.
