According to the California Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old Clovis woman was driving a Toyota sedan when she failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and collided with a Nissan sedan driven by an 88-year-old man from Prather

Fresno County, CA – Two women who were killed when two vehicles collided at an intersection in Fresno County on Thursday afternoon have been identified.
Yvonne Cheney, 88, of Auberry, and Nellie Moreno, 94, died following the wreck that occurred at the Auberry and Old Millerton roads intersection near Millerton Lake just before 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 23.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old Clovis woman was driving a Toyota sedan when she failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and collided with a Nissan sedan driven by an 88-year-old man from Prather. The force of the collision pushed both vehicles off the roadway and into an embankment.
Cheney was a passenger in the Nissan and was killed in the collision.
The driver of the Nissan and two other passengers were hospitalized with moderate to major injuries.
Moreno, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced deceased at a hospital.
The Toyota driver was also transported to the hospital with major injuries.
According to CHP, alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played any role in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
