Fresno County, CA – The driver of a pickup truck died, and the driver of a semi-truck was hospitalized after the vehicles collided head-on Monday morning in Fresno County.
The wreck transpired around 5:30 a.m. on June 22, 2026, on Manning Avenue east of Chateau Fresno Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a man was driving a Toyota Tundra pickup truck west in the eastbound lane of Manning Avenue when he collided head-on with a Freightliner pulling an empty trailer. The semi-truck driver had attempted to swerve to avoid the crash but was unsuccessful.
The impact caused the pickup truck to overturn, eject the driver, and catch fire. The vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.
The semi-truck left the roadway after the impact and came to a stop in a nearby vineyard.
The man driving the pickup truck died at the scene.
The Freightliner driver was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver cooperated with investigators. DUI was not a factor on their side.
At the time of the report, authorities had not yet determined if the deceased was impaired at the time of the accident. The reason why he was driving the wrong way also remained unknown.
