Fresno, CA – A woman and a 2-year-old girl are dead following a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Fresno on Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to the CHP, the crash occurred when a Honda Civic ran a stop sign at the intersection and struck a Chevy Tahoe.
Preliminary investigations by the CHP indicate the female driver of the Honda Civic was traveling northbound and likely exceeding the speed limit when she failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection, colliding with a Chevy Tahoe that was headed eastbound.
The impact of the crash tragically killed the 28-year-old woman and the 2-year-old girl, who was partially ejected from the Honda and was not secured in a proper car seat.
Initial reports also indicate neither victim was wearing a seatbelt. Two teenage boys, ages 16 and 17, who were occupants of the Chevy Tahoe, sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a hospital, where they are expected to survive.
CHP investigators believe speeding and failure to yield at the stop sign were contributing factors in the collision, and the failure to use appropriate restraints likely contributed to the severity of the injuries and fatalities.
