The fatal crash happened at about 8:20 a.m. on May 22 on Highway 62 near Cadiz Road

Freda, CA – One of the three people who were killed in a fiery three-vehicle collision Friday morning on State Route 62 in the City of Freda has been identified, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The authorities identified the victim as Holly Chaffey, 60, of Desert Hot Springs.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. on May 22 near milepost marker 102 on Highway 62.
Investigators said a Lexus traveling westbound at a high speed entered a curve and drifted onto the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle reportedly traveled back onto the highway and crossed into opposing traffic lanes, where it was struck broadside by a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Moments later, a Toyota Camry collided with the Lexus. Authorities said both the Lexus and Camry caught fire immediately after the impact.
Passing motorists reportedly stopped and attempted to help the occupants trapped inside the burning vehicles. However, both drivers and at least one passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
Officials later identified the Lexus driver as 60-year-old Holly Chaffey of Desert Hot Springs. The identity of the Camry driver has not yet been determined.
The driver and passenger inside the Dodge Ram were not injured in the collision.
Authorities said no arrests have been made.
No additional information was provided. The crash is under investigation.
