The double fatal accident happened at about 6:27 p.m. on April 28, in the 1380 block of Orchard Road, near Cherry Blossom Place.

Nipomo, CA – Two people who were killed in a wrong-way traffic collision in Nipomo on Monday evening have been identified by the California Highway Patrol.
The victims were identified as Fernando Contreras, 70, of Santa Maria and Darlene Leticia Scruggs, 49, of Nipomo.
The double fatal accident happened at about 6:27 p.m. on April 28, in the 1380 block of Orchard Road, near Cherry Blossom Place.
CHP officials said Contreras was driving a Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Orchard Road when he collided head-on with a Toyota RAV 4 driven by Scruggs, just south of Cherry Blossom Place.
The impact of the crash caused the Silverado to overturn and slam into a BMW that was traveling northbound behind the Toyota.
The Toyota went off the roadway following the impact.
Contreras and Scruggs were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Contreras was traveling the wrong way and at a high rate of speed.

Nipomo, CA – Two people were killed in a head-on collision in Nipomo Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened at about 6:27 p.m. on April 28, in the 1380 block of Orchard Road.
A white pickup truck traveling southbound on Orchard Road is believed to have drifted into the northbound lanes and collided with a white SUV and a red sedan.
The man driving the pickup and the woman driving the SUV were both killed in the accident.
The third driver sustained minor injuries but was not transported.
Speed is suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
