According to the California Highway Patrol, the mishap happened at around 9:02 a.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway just south of Taglio Road.
A black BMW sedan and a big rig with a trailer were involved in the crash.
The sedan became lodged under the bug rig.
One person was killed in the wreck. Their identity was not immediately disclosed.
