Eureka, CA – A child was struck and injured by a vehicle on Saturday evening in Eureka, according to the authorities.
The accident took place at around 6:20 p.m. April 18, in the 1600 block of Pine Street near 14th Street.
Preliminary reports indicate that an 8-year-old girl was walking in the area when she was hit by a vehicle operated by a student driver. The exact circumstances of the collision were not yet established.
The Eureka Police Department and EMTs soon after arrived at the scene and found the girl at the yard of a home.
Medics attended to the child, who sustained unspecified injuries. The child was then loaded onto an ambulance and was transferred to a hospital for further treatment.
The involved driver was at the scene when authorities arrived. The car was reportedly traveling at a low rate of speed and there were no reports of any arrests in connection with the accident.
