Emeryville, CA – At least one person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Emeryville early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred on the eastbound side of I-80 just west of the Ashby Avenue on-ramp at approximately 5:01 a.m. on Sunday, March 15.
Authorities reported the crash involved two vehicles, including a dark-colored SUV that lost control, spun out, and struck the center divider. The impact caused the vehicles to block multiple lanes, including the middle lanes, leading to a dangerous situation for approaching traffic.
At least one person sustained major injuries in the crash. However, officials have not released the identities of those involved or confirmed the total number of injured parties. No arrests have been reported.
Preliminary information suggests that loss of control by one of the vehicles may have contributed to the collision.
Emergency responders, including fire crews and officers from the California Highway Patrol, responded to the scene and temporarily blocked several lanes as well as the Ashby Avenue off-ramp to assist victims and clear the wreckage.
The crash caused significant traffic delays in the area, with all lanes initially blocked before crews gradually reopened them. Traffic was briefly allowed to pass through a single lane before full reopening.
The incident remains under investigation.
