Elise Durgin Hurt in Nevada County Crash on Rough and Ready Highway
Nevada County, California (January 31, 2023) – Elise Durgin, 78, of Grass Valley, was injured in a fatal crash that happened on Rough and Ready Highway in Nevada County Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened at about 5:50 p.m. January 30, near Greenwood Road just outside Grass Valley.
An 18-year-old Auburn man was driving a 2008 Infiniti on the highway when he drifted across the centerline and collided head-on with an oncoming 2019 Subaru driven by Durgin.
The teen was not wearing a seatbelt and died in the accident.
Durgin was rushed to a hospital with major injuries.
CHP said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be a factor in the incident.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
