Santa Clara, California (July 30, 2023) – An elderly pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Friday evening in Santa Clara, according to the authorities.

The incident happened on Homestead Road at about 8:48 p.m. July 28.

The Santa Clara Police Department said a Toyota pickup truck was traveling west on Homestead Road when it collided with an 85-year-old Santa Clara man in the crosswalk.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The involved driver, a 55-year-old Cupertino resident, remained at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
